How To Enable Credit Card Swipe in Sage 100 ERP

February 10, 2014 by Wayne Schulz

The question of how to enable credit card swipe readers within Sage 100 ERP 2013 recently was asked in my 90 Minds group. As you may know one of the big features of the Sage Exchange integration with Sage 100 ERP 2013 is the ability to swipe credit cards natively through the software.

This swiping generally also allows your company to receive lower rates because having a physical credit card present lowers the possibility of charge fraud

In order to get the swiping feature to work in Sage 100 ERP 2013 you must follow two steps (possibly a third if you need updated card swipe drivers):

1. Within your Sage Exchange program (which should be minimized in the task bar and activated by a right click and clicking settings) enable the Magensa Card Swipe listed under Credit Card Devices.

Your Sage Exchange interface will reboot an you will then be able to swipe credit cards in your Sage 100 ERP Sales  Order module.

PS – A good source for credit card swipers as recommended by my 90 Minds members is ID Innovations – http://idinnovations.com/

Options For Integrated Credit Card Processing In Sage 100 ERP 2013?

May 2, 2013 by Wayne Schulz

Beginning with Sage 100 ERP 2013 the ability to use PC Charge from Verifone as a way to integrate your credit card merchant account of choice to your  Sage 100 ERP has been discontinued. Instead Sage now offers integration to their own Sage Payment Services as the sole available option for integrated credit and other payment processing.

This has caused customers and partners to wonder whether third party options which re-enable credit card integrations to providers other than Sage Payments might be forthcoming.

At least one provider of such a solution had announced plans to upgrade their integration to work with Sage 100 ERP 2013.

Sage last night clarified their position on third party credit card integrations to Sage 100 ERP. In short they will not be allowed.

Starting with Sage 100 ERP Sage removed all credit card information from Sage 100 ERP and now stores it in the Sage Vault. From this location Sage can process integrated credit card transactions and does not need to subject each release of their Sage 100 ERP (including product updates) to an expensive PCI audit or review.

If you are using a credit card merchant other than Sage Payments and you wish to have integrated credit card processing in Sage 100 ERP 2013 then you will need to contact Sage Payments to obtain a merchant account through them.

Where Can I Download Sage 100 ERP (fka MAS90 or MAS200) version 2013?

December 14, 2012 by Wayne Schulz

Sage has just turned on their landing page for the new release of Sage 100 ERP 2013.

This release of Sage 100 ERP 2013 is available entirely by download. There are no disks sent by mail.  Luckily the process for downloading the 2.29 GB  file is very simple (see instructions below) and takes under an hour (depending upon your connection speed).

Once downloaded you will have a single self-extracting EXE file which when clicked creates a folder holding the entire installation disk (including Crystal Reports). Separate downloads are needed if you use Sage CRM or Sage Intelligence reporting.

Once downloaded you can install your upgrade (we strongly recommend consulting your Sage business partner first) from the source files on your server.

Schulz Consulting / DSD Business Systems customers should not worry about downloading the file as we’ve already secured copies and will transfer this file (as well as all other files needed to upgrade) onto your servers via the use of Dropbox which will synchronize the files overnight for you.

This update introduces several enhancements to Sage 100 ERP (fka MAS90 and MAS200)

  • Visual Process Flows – Menu “maps” make navigating the system easier than ever.
  • Sage Exchange integration for credit cards now allows for use of credit card swipers (Important: Talk to your partner about the conversion process as it may be more time consuming if you have many years of credit card history. Also please recall that PC Charge is no longer supported on Sage 100 ERP 2013).
  • Customers and vendors may now be designated as inactive.
  • Cleared checks from Bank Reconciliation now show up in Account Payable vendor maintenance.
  • Multiple ERP companies can access a single Sage CRM database.
  • Sage Advisor notifies you when it’s time to upgrade

The Sage 100 ERP 2013 software may be downloaded from:

CUSTOMERS:

Sage 100 ERP customers on a Business Care plan can download your copy by logging on to the Customer Portal, and then clicking on www.Sage100ERP.com/download2013. Before you download, Sage recommends that you check with your certified solution provider to assist with your upgrade.
