Sage 100 Paperless Issue: Printer not activated, error code -41 or Printer not activated, error code -30

May 21, 2021 by Wayne Schulz

We are receiving calls from Sage 100 users who observe an error while attempting to print from Sage 100. In many cases, the company is making use of Sage’s paperless office feature, which allows for the printing of journals, registers, reports, and forms to a PDF file.

The error messages are typically one of the following:

  • Error Code -41
  • Error Code -30
  • Unable to process the lockfile
  • Printer not activated
  • Cannot create PDF
  • PDF not created successfully
  • Prompt for a location to save PDF

The cause of this error is frequently a Windows update replacing or modifying the driver used for the paperless functionality – AMYUNI – to either an incompatible version or remove some key registry folders, which can result in this error.

The fastest way to correct paperless errors is to reinstall the paperless driver on the affected computer(s).

To reinstall the paperless driver, you must be logged into Windows as a user who is a member of the local Windows administrator group on the computer you are reinstalling.

From the Sage 100 main menu, select File – Run and type in PL_AdvancedOptions_UI

From the resulting dialog box, you can uninstall the drivers and then click install and test

If the above steps work, you should see a successful test during #3, a pdf appearing on your screen with a success message.

Below is a short video from Sage support that illustrates the steps to reinstall the paperless office driver for Sage 100.

Sage has a helpful knowledgebase article – What are the 5 methods to install the Sage PDF Converter which provides additional options for installing the Sage PDF Converter.

The Sage PDF Installation incorporates three elements:

NOTE: User Account Control (UAC)may prevent the installation of the Sage PDF Converter. It is recommended that Windows 7 and Server 2008 Operating Systems disable this feature temporarily, then reboot prior to trying any installation method. Enable UAC after installation is complete and able to create Paperless Office PDFs

  • Installation of the “Sage PDF Converter” Printer object in Windows
  • Establishment of the Registry Entry under HotkeyCurrentConfig/Software/Sage PDF Converter
  • Establishment of the CDINTF300.dll (Driver) to Windows/System32 (32 bit Operating Systems) or Windows/SysWow64 (64 bit Operating Systems)

WFH Tip For Sage 100: Go Paperless

February 24, 2021 by Wayne Schulz

If your workflow is now like that of many companies you probably have most or all of your staff working from home.

When your staff is working in Sage 100 they are likely printing and updating journals and registers as they go about their regular workday.

These registers require paper and if you are manually printing and requiring staff to come into the office to later file the journals and registers – you are working too hard.

Sage 100 includes a feature called Paperless Office. It’s essentially taking all those journals and registers and automatically saving them as PDF files in a location determined by you.

What’s nice about this feature is that once enabled it automatically saves a copy of the output no matter whether your staff tries to send it to a printer or manually creates a PDF.

Sage has a set of detailed instructions online. These only look complicated as the actual setup is fairly straightforward.

If you decide to setup Paperless Office in Sage 100, here are a couple quick tips.

  • Create a common storage location which will survive upgrades. Don’t embed the saved paperless documents inside the \MAS90 folder or you’ll need to move them ( or keep that old folder ) with each upgrade.
  • Usually what we do is create a folder \acct then inside there have a folder \v20xx for the actual Sage 100, also a \acct\Paperless folder which holds the paperless documents.

That’s it. It’s very easy to automatically saved copies of your journals and registers to PDF automatically which will save your staff from having to manually file those documents.

With a little more setup effort you can also email out invoices using paperless. Some third-party credit card processors also support embedding links inside the invoices so your Sage 100 customers can pay directly from the invoice.

Previously we’ve had some customers dismiss paperless office as an unnecessary step. Now with more companies adjusting to working from home this handy feature is not only included in your product but can provide a very real return on your Sage 100 investment.

Sage 100 Paperless with Gmail and Less Secure Apps

November 17, 2020 by Wayne Schulz

We just ran across an instance where a customer using Sage 100 2020.x and paperless office for electronic delivery of statements was suddenly having their Google Workspace ( aka G-Suite or Gmail ) email account login and password rejected.

It’s important to note that this customer was NOT using two-factor authentication with Google. If they were to use two-factor this issue likely would have been resolved by using an app-specific password ( only available to those with two-factor enabled).

Just one month ago we thought we’d resolved this issue by enabling less secure applications within their Google email.

Google has begun tightening their security protocols for what they term less secure apps. Essentially these are apps which require you to enter in your Google credentials as opposed to using a more secure authentication which might grant access to only a portion of your Google account such as only email or only calendar access.

You can read more about Google’s less secure apps policy here.

It appears that while you can enable access for less secure apps, Google will periodically disable that access should the app not login for an undefined period of time.

This is apparently what was happening as our customer only printed statements every 30 days.

The resolution to the rejected login from within Sage 100 paperless office was to once again enable less secure apps from the Google account.

Printer not activated, error code -41 when printing to Sage 100 Paperless Office

February 8, 2016 by Wayne Schulz

If you’re receiving an Error Code -41 when printing to paperless office through Sage 100, please check that someone hasn’t manually updated the Amyuni PDF drivers.

Presently Sage 100 uses version 500 of the driver. If someone downloaded and applied Amyuni 550 then that may be the reason for your error message.

To fix:

  1. Open Devices and Printers
  2. Right Click on Sage 100 PDF Converter
  3. Select Printer Properties
  4. Open Advanced tab and select Amyuni Document Converter 500
