Sage 100cloud 2020 Product Update 1 Due on or about September 17, 2020

July 31, 2020 by Wayne Schulz

Many user won’t install the initial release of an ERP system and instead wait for the product’s first update.

Sage 100cloud 2020 was released in March 2020 and Sage has just verified that the first product update is set for September 17, 2020.

The product update release typically includes all known bug fixes. In some cases Sage will also include a new feature or two.

During last week’s STAC conference, Sage gave a quick peek at some new features set to make an appearance in the September 2020 product update.

According to the slide above, Sage is set to include at least three new features in Sage 100cloud 2020 product update 1.

  • Payments’ tab for invoice history inquiry
  • Net balance button for AP Invoice Data Entry
  • Visual Integrator Enhancements

Once released you will be able to find details about what is included in the Sage product update at the Sage 100 documentation site.

Sage release dates as well a expected new features or fixes are tentative and subject to change.

Midyear Sales Tax Update from Avalara

June 24, 2020 by Wayne Schulz

Join Avalara on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, for a 90-minute update on the latest sales tax trends and regulations. This webinar is free for all users and contains handouts with links to the latest sales tax and marketplace rules by state. ( Register Here )

If you’re worried that you may not be charging the appropriate sales tax or are considering expanding your sales online then this is an educational event you will not want to miss.

Avalara interfaces directly to Sage 100cloud accounting. It automatically computes sales tax based on the ship-to location and the type of product shipped.

While Sage 100cloud allows for creating your own sales tax codes and tracking tax manually the reality is that states are changing their rules so frequently that it might not make sense to manually track sales tax.

As of June 2020, there are only 5 states with no sales tax ( Avalara terms them as NOMAD states after the first letter of each state name ).

States continue to change rules for those who are required to charge tax ( aka Nexus ) for sales made into their states even when a company making the sale doesn’t have a traditional presence/office.

Join Avalara on June 30, 2020 for an update on sales tax for 2020 by registering here.

Sage Extends Support for Sage 100 Version 2017 To September 2020

April 1, 2020 by Wayne Schulz

Sage notes extended support is only for phone support.

Phone support only. We may not research newly reported defects in this version of the product

Important Considerations For Payroll Users Still on Sage 100 2017

2019 IRD (released in December, 2019) was the last IRD that will be released for Sage 100 2017, and the 2020Q1 Tax Table Update (released on January 30, 2020) was the last TTU that will be released for Sage 100 2017.

In order to stay compliant with Payoll and AP 1099 form printing, you will need to upgrade to Sage 100 2019.3 or higher and (if using Payroll, upgrade to Sage 100 Payroll 2.20.1 or higher).

Due to substantial changes to the tax code that materially impact the 2020 payroll tax year, the IRS released a new Form W-4.

Sage 100 2017 and earlier will not support the additional fields necessary to correctly calculate federal withholding taxes. If you are unable to upgrade to Payroll 2.20.0 or higher prior to needing to use the new Form W-4, you will need to manually calculate Federal Withholding for every payroll for employees who need to use the new Form W-4.
