Warehouse Wizard Series Parts 1 – 3

June 13, 2019 by Darcy Boerio

From ensuring that you have an accurate picture of what you have on hand and where everything is to informed decision making on replenishment, there are many moving parts when it comes to managing inventory (pun intended).

The inventory and warehouse experts and Sage Inventory Advisor and ScanForce have teamed up to bring you a series of tips to help you become a “Warehouse Wizard”.  For this article, we’ll look at the first three of the six tips.

Part 1: Two Sides of Inventory Management

From managing the physical product through accuracy in receiving, pick/pack/ship, physical counts, and labeling, inventory control is crucial to warehouse efficiency. It’s the foundation that allows you to make informed decisions on forecasting, ordering, and expediting, all in the name of inventory optimization.

In this 5 minute video, Russ Graf of NetStock and Steve Showalter of ScanForce discuss the key components of Inventory Control and Inventory Replenishment, and why even if business is booming, NOW is the time to invest in warehouse productivity tools.

Read the full article and watch “The Two Sides of Inventory Management” here.

Part 2: The Right Items in the Right Place at the Right Time

What if your warehouse had just the right amount of inventory to meet demands? Not too little, not too much, but just right?

Having the right items means faster fulfillment, happy customers, and more sales.

Having them in the right place leads to increased productivity and lower operating costs.

Having them at the right time prevents excess inventory and stock-outs.

And it all leads to increased profit.

Read the full article on how to “get it right” here.

Part 3: Hidden Costs of Inventory Spreadsheets

Who doesn’t love Excel? It’s inexpensive and easy to use. But when it comes to managing inventory, it’s not the right tool for the job.

In this 6 minute video, Russ and Steve expose some of the hidden costs lurking in your inventory spreadsheets, and how using tools designed for Sage 100 users can help you avoid the risks of spreadsheet inaccuracies.

10 Ways Mobile Sales for Sage 100 can improve your bottom line

January 8, 2019 by Darcy Boerio

It’s no secret that empowering your reps to complete sales transactions in the field will help them sell more, thereby increasing revenue. And a Sage-integrated Mobile Sales solution can also save you time (and therefore, money) by automating many of the time-consuming and error-prone tasks associated with the sales cycle.

Keep reading below for 10 ways that Mobile Sales for Sage 100 helps you improve your bottom line by making it easy to sell while streamlining operations.

  1. Allowing your reps to view real-time information such a customer-specific pricing, quantity on hand, and order history will allow them to increase customer satisfaction by ensuring that they are selling the right products at the right price.
  2. Sales tax is hard. With a Mobile Sales tool that’s integrated with Avalara, you don’t have to worry about your reps spending their time trying to calculate sales tax (and still maybe not getting it right). They can get real-time sales tax calculations for accurate invoicing at the point of sale.
  3. Collecting payments on the spot is great for cash flow and AR. Mobile Sales tools that integrate with secure credit card processors like American Payment Solutions let you do just that.
  4. Eliminate the paper chase by capturing signatures in the field digitally and storing them in Sage.
  5. Receipts can be emailed or printed on the spot from the mobile device to close out the transaction.
  6. Buy only the devices you need. A good Mobile Sales tool will work on just about any device – from rugged barcode scanning computers to smart phones, tablets and full-sized laptops.
  7. There’s no need for your reps to learn how to use Sage to complete transactions. They have all the tools they need to close the deal at their fingertips with one easy to use app that optimized for mobility.
  8. Speaking of Sage, you don’t need additional Sage licenses or modules to use most Mobile Sales tools.
  9. You don’t need an internet connection to use Mobile Sales. Solutions like ScanForce Mobile Sales can operate with the latest synced data from Sage. Entries can be synced back to Sage when a connection becomes available.
  10. Mobile Sales isn’t just for field sales reps. Put them at the counter, in the showroom, on the tradeshow floor, wherever your customers are when they’re ready to buy!

There are many options for Mobile Sales tools. ScanForce Mobile Sales is the only Mobile Sales solution for Sage 100 that offers all this functionality and more.

Sage 100 Time & Billing Solutions Update

September 12, 2018 by Wayne Schulz

A question was recently asked about the status of Sage 100 Time and Billing and when might we see the next release. What follows is information shared by SWK Technologies about their progress with the Sage 100 and Sage 100cloud compatible version of Time and Billing as well as some changes to the existing Sage 100 Time and Billing Standard product.

You may recall that in February 2018 the developer SWK Technologies announced a renewed focus on updating their Sage 100 Time and Billing Professional to the latest Sage 100 release level.

SWK will refocus efforts on developing Time & Billing Professional in 2018, as well as additional solutions that deliver greater value to time entry, billing, and reporting functions. The relaunch of Time & Professional and Timekeeper, as well as the launch of new Time & Billing solutions, will be covered in greater detail at Meeting of the Minds 2018 hosted by 90 Minds in San Diego, California.

Since that time the development efforts have been ongoing and SWK Director of Product Management & Development Mark Janecek created this extensive update on where things stand with Time & Billing for Sage 100.

In response to customer feedback, SWK announced a renewed focus on our time and billing solutions and outlined our strategy for these products earlier this year. This renewed focus/strategy includes:

    • Time and Billing Professional – We are making an investment in Time and Billing Professional and actively moving it to the Sage 100 framework. The development team has been working on this project for the lion share of this calendar year and is making great progress. We are currently on track to have Time and Billing Professional on the Sage 100 framework in the first quarter of 2019. We recently brought in more development resources to keep to this project on track.

    • Timekeeper – Timekeeper is a Sage 100 framework module that integrates with Time and Billing Professional and Time and Billing Standard, it also integrates with Sage 100 A/R, Sales Order, Job Cost, and Payroll. We invested in updating Timekeeper to work with the new Sage 100 v2018 Payroll and Job Cost framework modules earlier this year. The solution can be run directly within Sage 100, from desktop workstations using Timekeeper Entry, or remotely in multiple configurations including a web client using a third-party add-on.

  • Time and Billing Intelligence – Time and Billing Intelligence (TBi) Is our newest addition to our Time and Billing Solutions portfolio. When building this solution, we focused on providing the in-depth reporting needs Time and Billing Professional/Standard customers had been requesting. This solution sits outside of Sage 100 and uses Microsoft SQL Server Express to crunch the data needed to generate the dashboards and data views. We also focused on ease of deployment – specifically, the installation process which includes wizards to setup MS SQL Server Express and establishes connectivity to Time and Billing Professional and Time and Billing Standard.

Simply stated, our strategy is to update these tools and add additional features to them so users can track the time with Timekeeper, bill the time with Time and Billing Professional, and analyze the time with Time and Billing Intelligence.

If you would like more details on our portfolio of products, or if you would like to see a short demonstration of Time and Billing Intelligence, we posted a recording of a recent webinar on our newly live website (www.timeandbillingsolutions.com). A direct link to the page with the recording is below:

With our focus on Time and Billing Professional, we also announced that we would no longer update Time and Billing Standard past the currently available Sage 100 v2018 release. Customers running Time and Billing Standard with Sage 100 v2018 and earlier can continue using Time and Billing Standard; however to upgrade to Sage 100 v2019 (once released) and beyond customers will need to migrate to Time and Billing Professional. We have outlined a migration plan – any customer on active maintenance for Time and Billing Professional or Time and Billing Standard is entitled to the new Time and Billing Professional framework edition once released. Please note, we already have a migration tool to move customers from Time and Billing Standard to Time and Billing Professional (non-framework) for customers who wish to migrate now. Additionally, we are running a maintenance amnesty till the end of the month so clients can get back on maintenance easily.

Time and Billing Professional (non-framework) and Timekeeper are available for Sage 100 v2018 and earlier now. Time and Billing Intelligence will be available very soon. If you would like to discuss your prospects time and billing needs or would like more information on maintenance amnesty or our current Timekeeper promotion, please do reach to our dedicated Time and Billing Solutions sales executive Siria Kresser. You can reach out to Siria Kresser at siria.kresser@swktech.com or at 973-396-1741.

Based on SWK’s update it appears users of Sage 100 Time and Billing can expect an updated release in the first quarter of 2019.
