How to configure MAS90 Sales Order entry so it will automatically backorder items that are not on hand

January 2, 2012 by Wayne Schulz

Several consultants in my 90 Minds Consulting Group were just comparing notes about a question that one of them had asked.  The question was “Is there a way to configure MAS90 and MAS200 so that inventory items not in stock will automatically be back ordered on the order?”.

After some debate about potential ways to accomplish this task – Dawn Anastasi – of C&G Consulting offered up this best practice:

Yes that is possible, you want to turn off the quantity checking in S/O first of all. Second, you want to turn OFF the setting in Role Maintenance for “allow to exceed qty on hand” on tab #3.

Business Insights Intelligence for MAS 90 & MAS 200 – First Look

March 15, 2010 by Wayne Schulz

Last week the Alchemex folks shared an hour long demonstration of the new Business Insights Intelligence module for Sage MAS 90 and MAS 200. As you may remember back in January 2010 we picked up on a semi-official announcement from Sage that Alchemex was MAS 90’s FRX replacement.

Microsoft, the owner of FRX, had previously announced that as of the end of 2010 all sales of FRX would cease. As of the end of 2012 all support for the MAS 90 or MAS 200 version of FRX will stop as well.

Here’s the recorded session. No firm word yet on exactly when this will release though it seems likely you’ll see the first release in the second half of 2010.

Scanco Automation Series for Sage MAS 90 and 200

May 21, 2009 by Wayne Schulz

We just received this brief (one minute) video from Scanco that gives a broad overview of their Automation Series (lots of people pointing scanners but not a lot of detail on how it works).

One thing that’s mentioned in the video is that use of expensive Sage MAS 90 or 200 licenses is not required so they’re probably using some type of Web Server similar to how Hightower operates their Remote Timekeeper. If I’m wrong about the technology I’m sure someone from Scanco will set me straight and I’ll update the post.

Pricing on this per the mailing is “about $5,000”. For more information visit Scanco Automation Series.

What’s your experience with Avalara Sales Tax for Sage MAS 90 or 200

November 22, 2008 by Wayne Schulz

Do you use Avalara Sales Tax Reporting integration to Sage MAS 90 or 200?

We’re getting a lot of feedback from users returning from the Sage Summit in Denver. Apparently the link between Avalara’s sales tax reporting and processing service to Sage MAS 90 and 200 was the subject of quite of few heated comments.

Aside from the fact that Avalara may be the only integrated solution that supports US and Canada sales tax, we continue to hear feedback from users about unresolved issues with the integration. These range from transactions that won’t update to the dashboard to lack of clear documentation. As best we can tell the issues aren’t so much to do with a lack of functionality as they are to do with finding  someone to support the integration.

According to our sources on the ground at during the entire Sage Summit 2008 customer conference, several end users were vocal in discussing issues they’d experienced getting support with this Avalara integration to Sage MAS 90 or 200.

How about you? Are you using Avalara for Sage MAS 90 or 200? If so, leave a comment and let everyone know how it’s working for you — good or bad.

Were you at Summit and did you speak with Sage about this issue? If so, what was the outcome?

Update 11-24-08: I had a conversation with an Avalara representative Sunday who seemed surprised to hear there may have been conversations about the product during Summit that spotlighted potential issues. She assures me that people are happy with the Avalara to Sage MAS 90 integration and in instances where there are problems, they’ve been isolated.

As I said above, the comments are open and I’m looking for feedback.
