Tradeshow Housing and Sage Summit Reservations “Scam”

Several people who have attended Sage Summit in the past have reported that they’ve been contacted by a representative claiming to be from Trade Show Housing.

Another consultant stated they were contacted from someone claiming to be from Sage Housing:

We received a phone call from someone named Laura at 800-217-4402 who claimed to be with ‘Sage housing’ apparently offering to assist with booking hotel rooms for Summit.

According to Sage neither of these companies represents the official Sage Summit 2014 conference for Los Vegas which is held this year at Mandalay Bay July 27-29, 2014.

The only official housing for Sage Summit will be available online via registration site beginning in April. Please contact us with any questions – infosagesummit@sage.com

Backup and Disaster Recovery for ERP Users

How are you backing up your important accounting data? If you’re making informal backups without a real plan of how you’d managed operations in the case of a disaster (think extended power outage due to hurricane, flood , earthquake) then you may be leaving your business exposed.

At a recent conference one of my colleagues presented a short overview of an interesting data recovery solution which not only backs up your accounting data but utilizes some specialized hardware that would allow you to be up and running shortly after a disaster.

No power in your main location? This system allows another location to remotely connect and run your server data which has been uploaded and mirrored to a remote data center (one on each coast of North America).

It’s easy to ignore disaster recovery planning. Most companies don’t do any planning until they experience a serious loss of data. In come cases this loss of data is enough to cause the company to go out of business.

How To Enable Credit Card Swipe in Sage 100 ERP

The question of how to enable credit card swipe readers within Sage 100 ERP 2013 recently was asked in my 90 Minds group. As you may know one of the big features of the Sage Exchange integration with Sage 100 ERP 2013 is the ability to swipe credit cards natively through the software.

This swiping generally also allows your company to receive lower rates because having a physical credit card present lowers the possibility of charge fraud

In order to get the swiping feature to work in Sage 100 ERP 2013 you must follow two steps (possibly a third if you need updated card swipe drivers):

1. Within your Sage Exchange program (which should be minimized in the task bar and activated by a right click and clicking settings) enable the Magensa Card Swipe listed under Credit Card Devices.

Your Sage Exchange interface will reboot an you will then be able to swipe credit cards in your Sage 100 ERP Sales  Order module.

Requirements:

  • Microsoft .NET 2.0 or higher is required on the server. Most servers current on MS service updates will already satisfy this.
  • No special hardware requirements, just follow the Sage published guidelines.

GetX install tips:

  • GetX must be installed on the server where Sage 100 ERP (MAS 90/200) resides.
  • Click ‘Register Module’ at \Setup\GetX System Settings in Sage 100 ERP (MAS 90) for a no obligation 30 day trial.
  • GetX creates in indexed database. The indexed database will be created in the ..\MAS90\xxx_GX\ folder where ‘xxx’ is the company code.
  • The indexed database will be similar in size to the data files being indexed.
  • The initial indexing could take several hours. We recommend that the initial indexing be performed after business hours.
  • The “freshness” of the data searches will be equal to the frequency with which the indexing timer is set. You can adjust the timing as often as you like.
