What Is Sage 100cloud? – ( The Product Formerly Known As Sage 100c )

January 23, 2018 by Wayne Schulz

On a conference call today Sage announced that they would rebrand their Sage 100c product as Sage 100cloud effective March 7, 2018.

This move was explained as more of a marketing change.

So this is a way to reinforce the connected cloud capabilities of the c-line products and align closer our native cloud solutions under Sage Business Cloud

At least initially, the internal features and benefits of Sage 100cloud will be identical to Sage 100c. Think of Sage 100cloud as Sage’s way of more directly explaining that in the future they expect to have Sage 100cloud utilize more cloud connections.

 What Is Sage 100cloud?

Sage 100 Cloud is the product formerly known as Sage 100c. It is optimized for a hosted cloud although you can also run the program locally within your own office.

As an extension of the product formerly referred to as Sage 100c, Sage 100 Cloud offers all the same unique benefits which were included with Sage 100c. The pricing of Sage 100 Cloud is also based on a subscription with minimal up-front costs.

While Sage 100c will run as a hosted application in a cloud environment, it is important to note that the hosting portion is an optional added cost.

Sage first launched Sage 100c in November 2015. Initially, the primary difference between Sage 100 and Sage 100c was that Sage 100c would be sold under a subscription license with less of a hefty up-front cost.

What Is Unique To Sage 100cloud?

Over time Sage has added features unique to Sage 100c:

  • Multi-Bin processing from DSD and Scanforce
  • AP Automation
  • Sage 100c Manufacturing
  • Payroll 2.0
  • Inactive warehouse
  • Sage Mobility by Scanco

As development continues on Sage 100 Cloud we expect the the bulk of new features will be created on that platform. We also expect increased integration capabilities from Sage Business Cloud.

How Can I Host Sage 100cloud?

Sage 100 Cloud will run locally or you may host it run a private or public cloud environment. The choice of a host is completely up to you. There are few limitations on what integrations may be used in the Sage 100 Cloud hosted environment.

As an example, users of Sage 100 Cloud who wish to access the software in the cloud may select from plans ranging from $65/mo per user to $139/mo per user.

The Sage 100 Cloud hosting includes all maintenance, update and upgrade for every version of Sage 100. Data backup, recovery and redundancy is also included with each Sage 100 Cloud hosting plan.

Third-party applications from popular ISVS such as Starship, Scanco, Scanforce, MAPADOC, Highjump, Biznet and more will all work seamlessly when hosted in the Sage 100 Cloud.

Cloud hosting for Sage 100 is most popular with users having multiple remote offices or lacking adequate IT coverage to service their accounting software.

How Can I Make The Screen Fonts Bigger In Sage 100?

November 9, 2017 by Wayne Schulz

One of the most common questions we hear from users daily is “How can I make the fonts bigger in Sage 100”?

Struggling to read tiny fonts on computer screens is a challenge for many. As more information is added to screens the fonts have continued shrinking each year.

Starting with Sage 100 2016 you can turn on a new menu option that will expand the font size and make your screen more readable. Start the process by navigating to the File- Change User Settings option.

This option is available to both Sage 100 and Sage 100c users.

Make sure your desktop is set to STANDARD.

If it is not set for Standard then change it to Standard, accept the settings and exit and restart Sage 100.

Upon restarting Sage 100 you can click the View menu.

Next click on Application Scaling and select Medium as the font size.

Please note:

  • The Workstation’s Screen Resolution height must be greater than 1260 to enable the Large option
  • The Workstation’s Screen Resolution height must be greater than 1000 to enable the Medium option

Sage 100 and Sage 100c Version 2018 Release Date Is October 20, 2017

October 4, 2017 by Wayne Schulz

Sage just posted an internal webinar announcement for “See what’s new in the next Sage 100 & Sage 100c & Sage Fixed Assets 2018 Releases” for their partners. The webinar is scheduled for October 11, 2017 with the product availability first schedule for October 20, 2017

(NOTE: In some cases Sage provides partners with the new release in advance of customers so this release date may be variable for end users although I expect by the end of October most will have access to the update).

New features listed:

– Redesign of Job Cost and Payroll to bring them both up to framework
– Spell checking in several areas (comments, memos and messages that print on forms) – 100c feature ONLY
– Inactive and restricted statuses for warehouses – 100c feature only
– Sage mobility for barcode to optimize import record capabilities from a mobile app

Sage Fixed Assets:

– Workflow updates to help support quick and easy ways to manage your business
– Tax compliance updates that can eliminate end-of-year anxiety for tax preparations
– Tracking mobile barcode scanner app for Android to bring modernization to our tracking module

Key takeaways:

– If you’re not already using Sage 100c you should make plans to migrate. In some instances Sage may have promotions to make the transition equal to or the same price as your Sage 100 maintenance.

– Stay current! Sage is moving quickly in what versions they support. In my view you should now be upgrading annually in order to take advantage of all the features that you are paying a subscription form. Many consultant can offer off-hours conversion so that you experience little – if any – downtime during upgrade.
