No October Surprises Here
Hello, Sage 100 enthusiasts! It’s that magical time of year when Sage graces us with updates as essential as your morning coffee. So, let’s cut to the chase and break down what’s coming and what you need to do to stay in the game.
First, if you expect an update in October, you can relax. Sage has decided to skip an October payroll update. So, you’ve got a bit more time to prepare for the ones coming in November and December.
November 2023: Tax Table Refresh
Mark your calendar for November 2023 because that’s when a Sage 100 payroll tax table update is dropping. It’s your yearly nudge to ensure your system is current with all the new tax rates and rules. Don’t be the one who sails into 2024 with last year’s tax tables. It’s not a good look.
December 2023: Double Whammy—Payroll and Forms Update
December is shaping up to be a busy month. Not only is Sage rolling out a Payroll update, but they’re also releasing a forms update. The details are still under wraps, but you’ll want to hit “Install” sooner rather than later.
Here’s some vital information: the December update is only compatible with Sage 100 versions 2020 and later. If you’re still hanging onto versions 2018 or 2019 for payroll or 1099s, you’ll need to upgrade before you can apply this update. No exceptions.
The Fine Print: Who Needs to Upgrade
Listen up if you’re using Sage 100 versions 2018 or 2019 (or prior). You’ll need to upgrade to one of the following versions to install the December Payroll and forms update:
Fail to do so, and you’ll be greeted with a failed update and many tax form headaches.
Legacy Users, Take Note
For those on unsupported legacy versions, you’re not directly impacted by this update. But let’s be honest; you might want to consider joining the rest of us in the current decade.
Looking Ahead: The n-3 Policy.
Starting in 2024, Sage is adopting an n-3 support policy for payroll updates. This means each new update will play nice with the latest version and the three preceding versions of Sage 100. Plan your upgrades accordingly.
