What’s Coming in Sage 100 2022?

February 1, 2022 by Wayne Schulz

Sage has scheduled a February 22, 2022 webinar to unveil the upcoming features in their next release of Sage 100 2022. The company has been working intensely on updating its manufacturing modules. It is expected that those modules may make up the bulk of the enhancements.

Sage 100 Version 2022 ( formerly MAS90 ) should arrive in the second quarter of 2022. Very little has been publicly shared about the Sage 100 roadmap since the Sage 100 2021 release in April 2021.

We expect Sage will update both feature tours and visual process flows to account for the December 2020 discontinuation of Adobe Flash.

Both feature tours and visual process flows relied on Adobe Flash. A fix is available for Visual Process flows and feature tours have been moved online so it’s unclear exactly what form they may take in the Sage 100 2022 update.

One expected change is Production Management, the Work Order replacement, being included on the installation media. Previously users had to separately download and license Production Management.

What Is The Current Version of Sage 100?

The current release of Sage 100 is version 2021 which was released on April 21, 2021.

New features added in Sage 100 2021 included company types, expanded check number field ( 10 characters ), form 1099-NEC reporting, and a 64-bit version of Sage 100.

In order to find your current release level, review the Help – About menu which will display your current version.

Please take care to ensure that you are using Sage 100 and not Sage 100 Contractor ( formerly MasterBuilder). These two products are unrelated but easily confused by their seemingly identical product name.

How Soon Should I Plan On Upgrading?

We are frequently asked by customers how long they should wait until they can feel confident with installing the latest Sage upgrade.

Generally, we break our upgrade recommendations vary by module installed. You should ensure that third-party enhancements, custom programming, or scripting are also available prior to considering your upgrade timeline.

Recommended Sage 100 Upgrade Timeframes

For a 2021 to 2022 upgrade these are the approximate periods of time we recommend waiting before installing the latest upgrade.

During this time we are constantly researching feedback of early adopters and often will expand or contract this timeframe accordingly.

If your Sage 100 system is heavily modified then the following time ranges may not apply

Core financials only – GL, AP, AR, BR – 30 days after release

Distribution modules – Core + SO, IM, PO, RMA – 90 days after release

Manufacturing modules – Core + Distribution + PM or WO or MRP or IRP – 180 days after release

How Do I Update Sage 100?

Fortunately, Sage 100 does not generally require you to install older releases to upgrade to their latest version.

Each upgrade is cumulative so going from Sage 100 version 2018 to Sage 100 version 2022 only requires you to install the latest 2022 release and migrate your data.

If you are considering an upgrade from a version of Sage 100 ( formerly MAS 90 ) that is from the 3.x level, you should review our notes on How To Upgrade Older MAS 90 3.6x to Current Sage 100cloud.

If you are not using your consultant for the upgrade, there is a guide to upgrading which Sage publishes for administrators ( “how to” ) as well as a customer upgrade guide ( feature lists ). These Sage 100 guides were all recently moved online for easier access.

Sage 100 is now sold only on subscription. In order to obtain the latest release of Sage, you must be current on a subscription plan. Those who are on older perpetual licenses but have let their maintenance lapse can legally only install the version that was current at the time their maintenance lapsed.
